Packaging

A signatory of Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO), we have developed a packaging sustainability strategy. Our goal is to achieve 100% recyclable packaging for Masterpet products by 2025, including total elimination of non-recyclable plastics and complex combinations of packaging materials.

We plan to achieve these objectives without compromising the safety and integrity of our finished products, which must remain fresh and healthy on the shelf for 18 – 24 months. With the opening of Pet Care Kitchen, our own pet food manufacturing site in Australia, we have greater control over the design of our packaging.

To date, we have engaged with our suppliers to gather information about the material structure, recyclable content and volume of packaging used in all products. We have also implemented waste recovery for business-to-business packaging in our distribution centres.

Sustainable Procurement

Masterpet continues to support regional suppliers. We engage local farmers, growers and producers within our supply chain, focusing on direct partnerships, to purchase ingredients.

Building strong partnerships gives us greater quality control up the supply chain, ensuring the highest quality raw ingredients for our vet-formulated range of products. Through direct relationships we can guarantee ingredients, such as oats and peas, are grown to specification, whilst providing financial stability to rural businesses, who in turn support the local economy and community through employment and sustainable farming.

By sourcing ingredients locally and using regional manufacturers, we also reduce food miles and their impact on the environment.
